Tennant Limited traces its roots back to Charles Tennant and Company, a Scottish chemical manufacturing firm founded in 1788. Charles Tennant discovered a method of manufacturing calcium hypochlorite (known today as pool chlorine), which revolutionised the bleaching industry in the United Kingdom.

The Tennant group of companies grew as a manufacturer and distributor of chemical and mineral products to become a truly global company at the turn of the 20th Century.
Part of the business, including the Australian operation, was sold during the 1950’s to the Consolidated Goldfields Group.
As part of this group, Tennant Limited was incorporated in Sydney in 1966. The group was later renamed RGC Limited.

Today, Tennant Limited is an established international supplier and raw material producer. In addition to the company’s traditional agency and representation business, the company currently supports a large range of Tennant-branded chemicals and raw materials that are either toll manufactured or sourced through Tennant’s China-based subsidiary, Tennant Logistics.
